Baby bucket list

It’s come to my attention that I’m getting older. I’m 31, getting married next year, and quite simply, I don’t have much time to enjoy the wonders of travel before I’ll be bringing another human into this world. And I’m starting to panic!

I’ve always wanted children, but now it’s getting closer on the horizon, it’s absolutely terrifying. What if I don’t get to see everything that I want to before the time comes? And I want to see a whole lot – my list is growing longer by the second, and I’d like to cross at least some of them off before I have to start thinking about child seats and carry cots.

I know that it’s perfectly possible to travel with kids – I fully intend to do so – but there are some things that are best enjoyed child-free. Oktoberfest, for instance. An adults-only tropical island resort. Hiking to Machu Picchu. Cuba.

So, to stop me spiralling into a state of despair, I thought I’d start by making a list of everything I’d like to see and do before procreating. A baby bucket list, if you will. Here goes:

  • Gin distillery tour
  • Oktoberfest
  • Luxe spa break
  • Skiing
  • Christmas markets
  • Maldives
  • Over-water villa
  • Private island stay
  • Infinity pool
  • Cuba
  • Rooftop bar
  • Rooftop pool
  • Machu Picchu
  • Vietnam
  • Cambodia
  • Dubai
  • Prague
  • Germany
  • Budapest
  • Croatia
  • Slovenia
  • Montenegro
  • Denmark
  • Hawaii
  • Madeira
  • Porto
  • Rome
  • Tuscany wine tour
  • Lake Garda
  • Morocco
  • Cruise
  • Cornwall
  • Shepherds hut stay
  • Venice
  • Northern Lights
  • Blue Lagoon
  • Sri Lanka
  • New Zealand
  • Galapagos
  • Seychelles
  • New York
  • Grand Canyon
  • Fiji
  • Philippines
  • Bora Bora
  • Barbados
  • St Lucia
  • La Reunion
  • Las Vegas
  • London burlesque
  • Afternoon tea at the Savoy
  • Posh foodie trip
  • Swim with dolphins/turtles/whale sharks
  • Vienna
  • Great Wall of China

  • Bali
  • Madrid
  • Tanzania
  • Kilimanjaro treck
  • Canada
  • Niagra Falls
  • Argentina
  • South of France
  • Monaco
  • French chateau
  • Switzerland

So, yeah, it’s pretty long (I may have got carried away – perhaps it should be my overall bucket list instead). I’m not expecting to get anywhere close to crossing everything off, and saving up for a wedding could slow my plans for a while, but I reckon I’ve still got a good two to three years to make a decent dent in things and get some absolute musts ticked off. Let’s get started!
